GECCO 2011 Healthier Than Ever

I just got a note from Pier Luca Lanzi about some raw number on this year’s GECCO 2011 conference. The numbers are stagering. I will start with the numbers from the previous editions since GECCO become an ACM conference, just to build up suspense. The numbers of paper submissions to the main conference for the previous editions are listed below.

And after this prelude, here comes the number of submission for this year: 686. Yes you read it correctly 686 papers submitted to the conference. The number just brakes the record of submissions since GECCO joined ACM. 686 papers is 109 papers more than the previous 2007 record.

But, do you want to know what is even better than that? That you can still participate by submitting workshop and late breaking papers. Do you want to learn more about it, just check the conference calendar.

GECCO 2011 Submission Deadline: January 26, 2011

The Genetic and Evolutionary Computation Conference (GECCO-2011) is now inviting paper submissions. GECCO 2011 will be held in Dublin, Ireland, from July 12th till July 16th. The paper submission deadline is January 26, 2011.

The call for workshop proposals for GECCO 2011 is out. The GECCO-2011 program committee invites proposals for workshops to be held in conjunction with the 2011 Genetic and Evolutionary Computation Conference (GECCO-2011) in Dublin, Ireland, July 12-16. GECCO 2010 is getting ready to open July 7th at Portland (Oregon). But GECCO does not sleep and the 2011 edition is gearing up to take the torch after Portland.

Martin Pelikan just posted on the MEDAL and IlliGAL blogs that the GECCO 2009 paper submission deadline has been extended till January 28. Always, great news to finish polishing last minute changes :D It seems that the website is not yet updated, neither emails sent to the usual mailing lists. Just a matter or time I guess

Yes, GECCO 2008 was intense!

Yes, I disappeared from my blog during GECCO 2008. Yes, I started blogging about the International Workshop on Learning Classifier System 2008 held on Sunday 13 at GECCO 2008. The workshop was terrific. Lots of new ideas were presented, but more importantly, lots of new ideas end sparking in participants head. As usual, the big workshop family went to dinner together where we all end having a blast. Some good traditions do not change, fortunately.

Then, GECCO started. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday have been the most unusual GECCO days in my 10 years of attendance. Yes, I presented our paper and attended some interesting talks, but what made it different was that I spend a lot of time on hallways talking to people. There was an unusual concentrations of very interesting people to talk to, not to mention friends I have not seen in a long time. So, overall was really fun, and now I am trying to catch up with the papers published on the proceedings…
